A collection of 19 vertebrae—the last sacral and 18 caudal vertebrae—from this site were identified as belonging to a titanosaur. Initially designated 'Series "C"', these fossils later formed the holotype for the new genus Baurutitan (specimen MCT 1490-R). The collected material was housed at the Museu de Ciência da Terra in Rio de Janeiro. Further excavations in the 1980s and 1990s at the nearby "Point 6" or "Rodovia" site, also within the Serra da Galga Formation, uncovered more titanosaur remains. While some initial reports suggested similarities to Trigonosaurus, later analyses in 2022 led to a proposed synonymy between Trigonosaurus and Baurutitan, with the separation of a unique paratype into the new genus Caieiria. However, this synonymy has not been universally accepted by all researchers.
